Privacy Policy

We keep this simple: we collect as little as possible, and we never sell your data.
1. What we collect
- Email address — only if you create an account or an alert, so we can sign you in and send the notifications you ask for.
- Your saved alerts — the parks, dates, and preferences you choose to monitor.
- Agent conversations — when you ask the Parks Open assistant a question, we store a redacted version of your question (with emails, phone numbers, and long digit runs stripped), the tools called, and response metadata. Your IP address is hashed before storage and cannot identify you. This data is automatically deleted after 90 days.
- Basic technical data — IP address and request logs, used to run the Service, keep it secure, and prevent abuse (rate limiting).
- A theme preference stored in your browser. This stays on your device and never reaches us.
We do not collect your BC Parks credentials, payment information, or precise location.
2. How we use it
- To send the availability alerts you request.
- To let you sign in and manage your alerts.
- To operate, secure, and improve the Service.
3. Consent and email (CASL)
By creating an alert you consent to receive alert emails related to that request. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw consent at any time — we’ll stop sending.
4. Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that operate the Service on our behalf (for example our database, email, and hosting providers), under agreements that require them to protect it. We may disclose information if required by law.
5. Where your data is stored
Your account data is stored with our infrastructure providers, including a database hosted in Canada (ca-central-1).
6. Retention
We keep your email and alerts while your account is active. Agent conversation logs are automatically deleted after 90 days. You can ask us to delete your data at any time and we will remove it.
7. Your rights
You may access, correct, or delete your personal information, or withdraw consent, by contacting us. Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA and BC’s PIPA) you have rights over your personal information.
8. Cookies
We use a sign-in session cookie if you log in, and functional browser storage for your theme preference. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
9. Children
The Service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
10. Changes
We may update this policy; the new date will appear above.
